Lightweight-Aluminum Package |
(Up to 450 hp; 13.50-lb. case) |
The lightweight-aluminum package is designed for lower horsepower applications where weight reduction is important. While stronger than OEM cases, the lightweight-aluminum design does reduce overall gear-service life when compared to the heavier, nodular-iron cases we offer. Cases are constructed from high-grade aluminum and feature a cross-ribbed design, providing more dimensional stability for the pinion and carrier bearings. The caps are forged from 2014T-6 aluminum with increased thickness for added strength. Available case bores are 3.0625 for use with 28- and 31-spline axles and the larger 3.250 for street/strip 35- and 40-spline axles. Spool packages come standard with chromemoly yokes and forged-aluminum pinion supports. Upgrade-yoke-material options include aluminum and titanium. Choices include 31-, 33- or 35-spline spools in lightweight aluminum or steel with a 40-spline, steel-spool upgrade available. S-Series cast-steel yokes and Daytona-style nodular-iron pinion supports are standard with posi-unit packages. A lightweight-aluminum case with clutch-type limited-slip differential is standard with various upgrades available for specific performance requirements and axle-spline counts (torque-sensing, billet-half posi units and lockers). Ring-and-pinion-gear selections range from 3.40-6.50:1 and are professionally adjusted when assembled. Ring gears can also be lightened for additional weight savings. Refer to technical data sheet for option pricing. |
